Rubik's Cube Corner (Grades 3-12) In-Person

Rubik's Cube Corner

1st and 3rd Monday of each month @ 4-5:30pm

Speedcubing is a hobby where someone solves a Rubik's cube as fast as they can. In this Speedcubing club at the Summit Free Public Library, nicknamed the 'Rubik's Cube Corner,' we hope to bring the joy of cubing to more people in the area and we also hope to continue to grow the wonderful community of Speedcubing. The goal of this club is for attendees to make new friends, improve solving times, share and learn new techniques, and help each other grow and get better.

This club is open to people of all ages and skill levels, from beginners who have never touched a cube to advanced solvers, and we hope to meet you and help you improve, all while having lots of fun!

Our Club Leaders for the Cubing Club:

Evan Yao (WCA ID 2021YAOE02) is currently a Junior at Newark Academy. He is a swimmer and trumpet player and also has many diverse hobbies, including fish keeping and speedcubing. He learned how to solve a 3x3 when he was seven. When the pandemic started, he suddenly had an abundance of time so he decided to put more effort into this hobby. Over the course of the last couple of years, he has gotten his 3x3 average from 35 seconds down to around 8.5 seconds with a personal best single of 4.98 seconds. His official average is 8.72 seconds.
