Explore Your World: High Points of Ancient Greek and Roman History; from Athens and Sparta to Julius Caesar In-Person / Online

In this six-talk series, we will discuss:

  • The nature of Greek states such as Sparta and the monumental clash with Persia that gave us the first written history and the idea of freedom

  • Athenian democracy and how it differs from ours

  • The great war between Athens and Sparta, and the death of Socrates

  • Alexander the Great and a new world order

  • Rome's conquest of the Mediterranean, especially the wars with Hannibal and Carthage

  • Julius Caesar and the move from republic to empire.

Presented by Professor John Lenz of Drew University.

In-person for those who wish to participate in the discussion and via Zoom for those who wish to observe.
