Sassyfrass Storytelling Workshop

Sassyfrass Storytelling Workshop In-Person

Yes, there is a really fun way for your child to learn public speaking in SASSYFRASS which has been a popular and fun program for older elementary school students at the Summit Library for many summers.

Summit Free Public Library's own Jeslyn Wheeless, a professional storyteller with 2 award-winning CD's will teach kids to tell a story by memory in the oral tradition.  The culminating activity will be held at the Hometowne TV studio where all the stories will be filmed, and then shown on Hometowne TV 33 or 36, Verizon or Comcast, as well as being posted online on YouTube.

The program is fun with age appropriate songs, games, and listening to stories as well as practicing how to tell them.

SASSYFRASS, which is perfect for children going into Grades 3-6, meets July 26-August 6, Mon., Wed., and Fri. from 2-3 pm.  Children should attend all six days in order to get the most out of the program.

We hope to see you there!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this program is limited to 15 participants.
If your family has more than one child that would like to attend, please register each child for the programs individually.
While is not mandatory for a parent to be present for the program, please indicate if a parent will be present.
If you find that you are unable to attend the program, kindly call the library at (908) 273-0350 option 4 and alert the library staff in the Children's Department, so that we can allow people in on the waiting list.
